Someday Poem

marz 2007 (ohio)

Someday I want to look in the mirror and
See the perfect person
No acne no fat cells
Nothing that makes me stand out

Someday I wish those thoughts would go away
Wash them away like a tide in the ocean
Make  sure they never come back
Make them stay away forever

Someday I would be at peace
Peace with myself and the world
Peace and harmony with life itself
Life would be easier

Someday I wouldn't be in my thoughts
Not thinking about everything
About how the other kids look
Or how the other kids think of me

Someday the world would stop the stereotypes
Stop making kids think about themselves in ways
Ways that only harm them
Ways that make the kids think they're not good enough

Someday I wish you could stand out
Stand out and not be judged
Be able to be yourself without the world breathing
Breathing down your neck day after day

Someday I wish it didn't matter
Didn't matter what kids wore
Didn't matter how they stood out
Didn't matter they were themselves

Someday I wish kids could be themselves
Without having others judge them
That's my dream
That would be my peace
