Gatsby - Heavy conscience
Fadrian Adrian Bartley 1981 (St Ann)
A time where summer dreams possessed great men with golds,
beach side passions and boats to sail their mistresses across the ocean,
sharp wine at great houses and bickering friends with jealous eyes,
laughs share their aisles and secret rooms
with expensive perfumes.
torn stockings and dirty trousers behind vintage dark drapes,
drunken nights with broken pearl earrings
left a quiet place with bloody floors,
disappearing act of men's wears black vanished away from all eyes,
the law failed to comprehend a body wrapped held by the sea,
at a western city where the evening sun ate away
the surface of the still waters,
fallen friends with buried secrets and blood cannot be wash by time,
but settled in the bone of age to pour upon the passing years
with losses of all losses comes pain and high doses
to linger with big cigars upon violin strings,
a cabaret song for the wailing of the mind
and felt-hat reminisce upon sequins,
with every sip from a champagne glass,
rest upon tragic memories preserved by time
and takes their form upon intoxication
which led to a great house of fallen memories and dusty curtains
with shattered chandeliers.
left in the winter with wounded portraits,
once more revisited by the heart that owns them.
broken glasses with bloody memories and white noises plunged a migraine hit.
rich paintings lost its glow from age upon cold concrete,
memories there took shadows through the aisles,
and the hallucinated bloody past could be seen upon the porcelain tiles
hidden away from the sun and the moon too dark for the mortal eyes,
whispers and wine glasses diamonds they are,
tossed with intentions that still scream from the conscience,
and a big cigar held with dirty hands remember Ma-Lady
which was pushed from her balcony,
stains of the palm remain in greys and stiff wrinkles,
becomes a tragic place of the mind that age must paid for.
