Reach Out
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
The smell in the locker room comes from the team
The boys all need showers to make themselves clean
The stockings they wore will be thrown in a bin
To be washed here tonight but they ought to burn them
The steam from the shower room helps with the smell
But a little deodorant just might help as well
Reach out and touch me after the game
When the fans have all left just the goal posts remain
They stand on the field as a solemn reminder
That the game can be shortened and so can our time here
Reach out and touch me when you need a friend
We’ll go see my Father! You’ll win in the end.
