Today I feel like Icarus.

Today I feel like Icarus, on wings of melted wax,
Falling from the sky again with the ground approaching fast.
I always take a running start yet somehow come in last,
it's hard to see the future when all your world is ash.
Friends say "Stretch your hand to me, i'll always have your back."
but then the stage lights fade to black.
Today I feel like Icarus, the one who dared to try,
a foolish soul who took a chance and hoped that he could fly...
but flames melt wax, this we know,
but atleast he can say "I tried."

About this poem

I hit a bad low last friday and started writing, i couldn't think of anyone more symbolic of falling than Icarus himself.
