Ordinary Life

Douglas H. Mc Clintock 1934 (Sarnia, Ontario)

You'll lived your life
Had three children and a wonderful wife,
Years of bliss but lots of heartache,
Our life was planned and not a mistake !

On that day in 1957 in June the fifteenth
Our marriage vows were expressed,
I was 22, Bette was in her nineteenth,
A honeymoon in Niagara Falls was our lovefest !

Our very first apartment we lived
Cost only 65 dollars a month,
Upstairs in Esther's  house, like 2 peas in a pod,
We laughed and loved, she was no cook, I found out !

Our first new home cost 14 thousand dollars,
In 1962 with $1500.00 down payment,
All hardwood floors, it was fabulous
Owning our  home was our great enjoyment !

Bette was a diabetic since 1958
A life long battle, difficult to keep it on a level keel,
She always fought the good fight
In 2011 she chose herself to make the last exit !

As I speak I am a sick shut in at 88
With an earth angel to meet my needs
Remembering my life with a sigh
54 years of wedded bliss, I was indeed so blessed !

To keep and hold
From this day forward
For better or worse
For richer or poorer
In sickness and health
To love and cherish
Till death do us part
According to God's Law
This is my solemn vow !
