call me catfished

Audrey Cook 1955 (Los Angeles)

I was ready to believe
my heart and my brain
were ready to conceive
my life was ready to achieve
because of the feeling in my heart
i let down the drawbridge
and though what i let in
my mind and soul
would never let it part
one day i received a note
and my heart became remote
my hopes were dashed
everything that was buoyant
everything that began to float
just when she thought
everything  was  a Shakespearian quote
that everything had changed in a blink
her heart began to sink
everything of which she  began to drink
every love note she had played
she had been all but betrayed
and left in pain
alone
crying in the rain
a song that has been sung
over and over
would there be room for anything else
or would she sit forever on a shelf
a walk through a revolving door
a stroll that does confuse
go ahead and make a wish
just call me
catfished
