Praising Works
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I will give thanks unto the Lord,
Praising the Lord with my whole heart;
Because He is loved and adored,
Steadfast love never to depart.
Such great are the works of the Lord,
Sought out by all who delight therein;
While staying in one accord,
Never straying away to sin.
Full of splendor and majesty,
Honorable and glorious;
Righteousness filled with honesty,
In everything victorious.
He has given such wondrous deeds,
Being gracious with compassion;
Merciful in all our needs,
Always in a timely fashion.
He provides food for those who fear,
Remembering His covenant;
All those who honor and revere,
He comforts them to be content.
He has shown His people His might,
Giving them their inheritance;
Providing them with the insight,
When confessing with their penance.
Faithful are the works of His hands,
Everything that He does is just;
Judgment maxim of His commands,
Are found in all of those who trust.
They are established forever,
Performed with faithfulness and truth;
Standing fast never to sever,
Never considered as uncouth.
To all, He had sent salvation,
His covenant He commanded;
Holy and awesome elation,
The precepts that He has handed,
Fear the Lord is the beginning,
To practice good understanding;
His wisdom keeps you from sinning,
Clings to what He is commanding.
