ON THIS LONELY STRETCH OF HIGHWAY... (OF LIFE)
On this lonely stretch of highway... (of life),
Not a car to be seen for miles,
Miles around.
Just me, myself, and I,
Walking down a road that might as well be a dark tunnel.
Wondering why, why things happen the way they do;
Why this world sometimes leaves people so blue?

The road seems as dark and gloomy as my heart today;
 I think about Sandi and her dad as I travel the long pathway.
No, wait! I don’t want to get mad!
But, in the same vein,
I wonder why he so viciously attacked her;
Like he did.
She was just a kid!

Then, all the pain I had to endure after Sandi died;
Why?
Won’t someone please explain
The meaning of life to me?
The darkness is such a scary place to be
For me.
