OUR MOTHER

Ruby Yvette Jenkins 1898 (United States) – 1992 (United States)

Dear Mother, gone to that sweet rest,
The fair abode of all the blest
Who have passed on to that bright shore
To dwell with Christ forevermore.

We little knew how hard 'twould be,
No more with mortal eyes to see
Your patient, kind, and loving face,
Nor see you sitting in your place.

In memory I see you there.
How tenderly I touch your chair;
And from my heart there wells a sob.
But gentle Mother, you're with God.
