Story Of Their Divorce

Georgina Campos 2008 (Hawthorne New Jersey)

When I was younger
I used to think
That my mother and father
would stay in sync
Never again will I believe
Better to forgive than bleed
They did what was best for them and me
I was so sad I couldn’t breathe
But now I am better and I can see
That I’m my fathers daughter
And I’m my mothers daughter
Deep in me
They used to laugh and cry about things
I would never get anything
I was so happy to be loved
But they didn’t want to love each other
And I didn’t think I was enough
I was torn with truth
Didn’t think this change was new
I was so happy when I was younger
Now I’m older and they hate each other
There hate is deep but my love is strong
And it’s hard to think about
what went wrong
