sometimes

i

i open the window
everything's standing still
no sound's walking on the tall wall
i return to my room
and start walking on the edge of my mind

 ii

i open the window
a cat's sitting on the tall wall
leisurely licking the hands of time
our eyes meet

 iii

i open the window
the tall wall is dwarfed
under the weight of a crow
sitting on it

 iv

i open the window
a pale face
pops up from behind the tall wall
to watch the wandering scents
of the oozing night

 v

i open the window
the feeders are empty
the doves are cooing hungrily
so is my mind

 vi

i open the window
nobody's there
numerous footprints
are peeping through my eyes

 vii

i open the window
the tall wall is gone
i can touch everything
walking tall
in their essential gown
