Sonnet 1

Humbly heard a voice rich with given love,
A speech of rain stained on heavy lidded heart.
If faith fells fear then drench me from above,
And leave just your love for the journey’s start.

A gift that offers welcome sacrifice,
Tastes of bitterness on a sinful tongue.
If wished for, does courage not suffice?
Or on surer line should these hopes be hung?

A plainer way would be to say I’d die,
In battle fraught with evil clear to see.
But fights of heart oft causes me to fly,
To hope for truth in dark reality.

Are wishes backed by boldness leaps of faith?
Wish then for arms of grace, fresh from heaven’s lathe
