Conversations from the Cross

“Father forgive them”
Jesus prays
for those who pierce His hands

And when the cross-bound thief believes
Paradise began

His mother standing
“Beloved woman”
Entrusted to His friend

“My God, My God”
Forsaken now
Made sin for sin to end

“I thirst,” He cries
Prophetic wine
Scripture now fulfilled

All work is done
Finished complete
Just as His Father willed

Spirit entrusted to hands above
Breath goes out is gone

A seed is planted in the tomb,
’til comes the third day’s dawn
