Motherly love

Motherly love
By: Alyssa Crowley

Overpowered by the disappointment, overpowered by the beating
Watching carefully as her siblings' life is marred by the things she receives.
She gets it all.
She is loved.
I am merely a burden.
Longing to meet my demise, but too scared to try. Worrying about who I’d leave behind.
Finally, free but filled with melancholy and regret. Sitting there lying in her bed. Once her mother was gone she didn’t know what to think.
 She was only a kid.
She was only a kid. in her darkest days. People took advantage of her kindness and empathetic ways. She did not care. She let them do as they please.
Even if it hurt. She had no self worth.

It happens again years later. The pain.
But it was only a hoax.
A baby soon born
With a smile of a thousand suns. Eyes the color of a deep brown log.
It lights up her world, even if she’s only young.
It saves her.
Helps her flourish. The child gave her a reason to live. The reason she never gave up.
She’s grateful for the choices she has made. Even if others don’t feel the same.
The child grew up to respect her and look up to her. To the child, she was a hero. She was brave and persistent. She never gave up. It inspired the child to do the same.
