The Thief who stole, Me
You had me at hello, with the brightest smile and the warmest words. I was hesitant, after being alone for quite some time before you. Our first conversation was one I'll never forget, it was mellow, and I was content with just listening to the words flowing from your mouth. I was so intrigued with you, I would have sat all day, just to hear your warm words. You ignited something in me, when you looked into my eyes, I felt like we became one in an instant.
As time went on and our relationship grew, you became someone, I really thought I knew. Like a thief in the night, you stole my heart, I was blinded by you, or who I thought you were.
You began distancing yourself from me, I couldn't understand what I'd done, you gave me no reason to think we were undoing what we begun. You stole my mind, had me thinking we were becoming one, then you said, "I'm really not who you think I am"! I looked you in your eyes and in an instant, I saw no one who resembled the guy I fell for, at hello.
I've never been the same since letting you go, I trust no one, especially after the first hello.
About this poem
It's about having your life interrupted by someone you allowed in your heart. Someone who you thought loved you and wanted to spend their life with you but deceived you in the worst way.
