Stranded alone…
Walking down a crowded city street
The old man
Catches a glimpse of nature
A school of squirrels
Chasing each other around an old oak tree
The fall and autumn leaves
Float slowly
To a pool of
Forgotten friends
The old man stops
And reaches into his coat pocket
And pulls out a drink
The school of squirrels
Stop in their tracks
As the old man takes a drink
The curious gaze
Catches the eyes of the old man
A summering feeling
A understanding of freedom
Raises a hint of a smile
To his face
The school of squirrels
Have acknowledge him
And found A place of comfort
As the old man
Bids fair well to his furry friends
