I Learned a Lesson on Love

I spent years imagining impossible images
Of holding the hand of the handsome man
Who was meant to be mine.

I found a few fellas who seemed to satisfy my standards,
But not one was wise enough to see my beauty.

Then, in my lowest, loneliest sadness, someone sweet
Spoke wonderful words that started a spark.

Countless conversations led to cosmic connections,
And, eventually, my endless expectations faded.

Now, my feelings are free and nothing
Can destroy my desire to be with
The love of my life.
