A Comets Glory
Oh God, from the dark cold, I am drawn to Thee
I proclaim Thy goodness, Thy warmth, and strength
I am cold and barren and bring Thee nothing
I delight in my orbit of Thee and behold
I cannot be swayed from my narrow path
I comprehend Thy glory in creation
while in perpetual orbit around Thee
I see Thy great wonders
Up close and from afar
I begin my rapid descent towards Thee
Thy immensity renders me speechless
Thy brilliance vaporizes my dross
I tremble at Thy consuming majesty
Time slows to near-nothingness as I pass by
I dare only to glimpse Thy glory from behind
Only to be overwhelmed and in awe
Such splendor is pleasing
Beyond my comprehension
All things serve Thy purpose, Thou givest life to all
Thou biddeth me to take my leave from Thy presence
Thou commandeth me back to the depths of space
I cite only what is observed and discovered
Evidenced by a glorious trail behind
I display light and glory, not mine but Thine
My comfort, my orbit Thou hast placed me in
The dark and light are both alike to Thee
And it is certain that I shall see Thee again
About this poem
I wrote this poem yesterday and edited it today for meter and style. Since people tend to reject Biblical Theology outright, I thought I would appeal to Natural Theology, God's other Great Book.
