No gods at all

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Look; I did not say: Go this way
But who am I to stop you
Perhaps the god you know and love
Has chosen now to swap you

Exchange you for the world
So he could have more power in it
To get control of what’s not his
And rule over your Senate

You told him he could do this
When you went out and voted
So why are you surprised
To find out he is not devoted

You voted for the promises
Of one who is a liar
And now you grumble and complain
He can’t meet your desires
