In the Rearview

In the rearview
The past still haunts me
In the rearview
The hurt remains
In the rearview
I can't help but see
In the rearview
All the bruises, the scars, the pains

In the rearview
Is simply a reflection
In the rearview
A life of shattered dreams
In the rearview
So much fear and apprehension
In the rearview
Nothing was ever what it seemed

In the rearview
The sun is setting
In the rearview
Darkness closes in
In the rearview
Is a mind regretting
In the rearview
Is how the devil wins

About this poem

This poem was inspired by a recent sermon at my church titled, "Exiting Our Past" (https://crossroadsgrace.org/talk/exiting-our-past/). This poem is about what's in our rearview mirror of life for those that have painful pasts.
