Death did not stop.

Brooks Smith 1981 (AL)

Tho you may not stop for death ,
death will stop for you.
To dance the dance of Macabre
and hand you hymns untrue.

But be not scared nor petrified,
for the visit won't last long .
By the time you blink your weary eyes
You'll be on the last song..

Death knows not the souls it takes
Or solace that it robs,
It only knows the bungled mess
It leaves from hatchet jobs..

But if you cross the path of death
and it does not stop for you,
It may be that you're  already dead
and simple never knew....
