Dormant

I can sit here and write
A million things
But those words remain dormant
Never expressing what it is
I truly feel
If I told you my story
Could you believe it
There are at least a hundred reasons
Why I will keep it all a secret
Empty promises are simply given
I am not myself
Not that I'm complaining
I cannot turn back now
These emotions are endless
I can sit here and write
"Please don't leave me"
But what good would that do
When you'll just leave anyway
These dormant words are my chains
I've been weighed down
Locks are on too tight
If I told you my life is a lie
Could you sit down for a moment and listen
I am a man with faults
I assure you
I'm nowhere near perfection
But who is anyway
I can sit here and write
A single word
But I cannot speak
Not even a whisper
I can no longer express
These things that I keep feeling....
