Turn by Turn
First loves seldom last into the future
I advice you shouldn't cling on to that picture
Before everything goes south,
And your heart ends up with a fracture
I'm speaking from experience,
I could give you a whole lecture
Because I got knocked out, after getting bent over
I'm still trying to straighten up and fix my posture
I still go to bed with a weight on my chest,
I'm surprised my heart hasn't popped from all that pressure
I should've never held on to that picture,
I should've just focused on my tenure
I was warned, but I never listened,
Now I can relate perfectly to 'Prevention's better than Cure'
First loves seldom last
Enjoy the moment now,
Because it will soon become the past
And when it does,
I hope your heart doesn't end up with a cast
Because I know mine did,
And the pain still hasn't passed
Honestly, I have no idea how I manage
I should be out cold from this amount of emotional damage
I still find it hard to process how love can be an angel one second,
Then the next, a savage
I still think about the future we could've had together,
Damn, I need to get rid of that image
I should ditch that idea of marriage
The love we had for each other was pregnant with a beautiful future,
But a lot of shit happened and it had a miscarriage
I didn't know the first thing about heartbreak
And now, my best friend's heartache
This is because of one costly mistake:
I did too much and I myself was too much;
Something she couldn't take
I had an overdose of love,
I should've cut back on my intake
I feel my last was an exam,
I failed it woefully, with no chance to retake
I had my turn
It came to an end,
And now my heart's got a burn
