How helpless!

I stand amid the roar
of a surf - tormented shore

And I hold within my hand
grains of golden sand

How few! Yet how they creep
through my fingers while I weep

For I feel I am losing
prized assets without using

Wish I could save till such time!
that I get a feel of what was mine

Instead of helplessly stare and stand
while the life slipped from my hand.
