Choice

I’ve had a lot of time to think about you and me Life has a funny way of sweeping you off your feet It always happens when you least expect it
Even when you think that loves door has closed It opens wide and leaves you wanting more
No one knows the reason for it to open or close They just know the happiness or loneliness that follows
Your feelings freely flow around you Like the wind on a mid-summers dream
Or even under a starry night by the beach Life is what you make it out to be
No matter how you feel
Love always comes knocking and you will lose your will
No one ever expects to feel something so unexpected
But you have to make a choice
To stay and find out what might be
Or to run and hide leaving it behind It reminds me of you and me
And what we chose to do
With our special key
We closed the door to lock it out
Now our love is no more
And our chances are gone
One day we will think back on how things went wrong
Knowing we had the answers at our fingertips And how we could have made a better choice
A choice to let love in
A choice to hold on
A choice to stay

About this poem

In life you have to make a choice for love and that is what I was thinking of when I wrote this poem.
