the need to survive

Free verse
I look ahead and see
A path that wants us dead
I know i can not fail
For if i do
My world will suffer

I must find a way
A way we can survive
Not just for me
But for him
I can not let him be taken

This path disrupts our bond
But that will not stop me
Our bond is strong
Stronger than any obstacle
And that’s why i can’t fail

I must survive
To protect him
To teach him
To see him grow
I must not give up
