Sequoia

Lonnie Larson 1959 (Minnesota)

January 22

SEQUOIA

Oh, look at you, majestic pine.
You once stood there, through all time.

Through the ages you did stand,
Clinging tightly to the land.

Standing stately, tall and fair.
Cleaning water, making air.

With your canopies of green,
nothing nicer, man has seen.

Now you lie there, on the ground.
You did fall with thunderous sound.

Man will mourn you and will weep.
You will not awaken from your sleep.

Woodland creatures on you toil.
Returning you back now, to the soil.

Oh, look at you, majestic pine.
You once stood there, through all time.
