Lull of the Ocean

The sound of the ocean waves caressing the beach before it had no match.
The roar that subsided into a whisper as it crashed.
I often sat alone, pondering its power.
As grand as a god, as beautiful as a flower.
See, the ocean was not kind; it was far from it.
But its hypnotic patterns caused my heart to summit.
And so I sat, staring far ahead, where I saw a blue whale breach its head.
My eyelids fell heavy on my skull as I listened to its silent lull.
And I will never forget the day
In which my worries slipped away.

About this poem

This poem is inspired by my deep love of the ocean. Although it is not always forgiving, I find I can always find a morsel of peace when I visit.
