Undiscovered Planet

Twisters of burnt red swirl,
An unappetizing appeal of dust adheres in your mouth,
Grainy, a filthy taste, that makes you retch,
The odor of decay intoxicates, suffocates,
Looking for salvation, peering out to the horizon,
Jagged, grotesque shaped structures appear in the distance,
Glistening, revealing a bustling community with foreign people,
Living their lives like we live ours,
Clamor and screeches of their vehicles fill the air,
Giving direction, obstructing direction, causing misdirection,
Chaos seeps into the world where everyone has something to do,
Multitudes flooding the streets, aiming for each individual’s goal,
Defining their world with business and activities,
How a society can thrive like this is unbelievable,
No consideration for courtesy, frantically dashing to the next place with great haste,
You would be wise not to involve yourself with them,
These creatures are the least bit courteous, living in a dog-eat-dog atmosphere,
They will steal your footprint before you make it,
And cast you into the way of another’s step,
Adding to the mayhem that is their society.

About this poem

I first wrote this poem in 2009 and hadn't found it until recently when I was perusing my backup hard drive and found it. I figured I would feature this one on here as well since my other poem, Girl of Yesterday, was already included in the old poetry.com.
