Christmas time

As Christmas fast approaches
We look forward to the break
To see if Santa has arrived
We can’t wait for our kids to wake
With smiles upon our faces
We all give gifts around the tree
Hoping we bought right sizes
Ripping paper so quick to see
The kids are so excited
The family pets may well be too
But then the stress of dinner starts
Let’s have a glass or two
Will the turkey cook in time
Will the roasties taste Devine
Will the veg remain aldante
Oh god let’s have some wine
Dinner was a huge success
We are all full to the brim
Our Santa hats are falling off
The room becomes quite dim
Suddenly the sounds of sleep
Are echoed round the room
As the queen is on the tele
It’s recording we presume?
Tea time comes around so quick
But hungers no where near
So let’s just have another wine
And get back in the Christmas cheer
The drinks n shots are flowing now
The kids they think we are great
Playing all the party games
Even learning to skate
As the night draws in to close
And everyone’s so tired
But then the kids come back to life
Good lord they are so wired
So we just have more wine
N of course another shot
N we dance upon the twister mat
Thinking we look so hot
The kids are tucked in bed now
Aa we try to navigate the stairs
But two up three down along the way
We must go up in pairs
Now the room it won’t stop spinning
As well as our heavy head
And we start to think of Boxing Day
But will we ever get out bed?????
Recalling all the happiness
Which we had for just one day
We realise just how blessed we are
In each and every way
