Never say die

James Winston Echard 1972 (Orange county California)

Lying here next to you in the dark all I can feel is your Beating Heart
you've been beside me through the test of time
we both had our share of doubts waited out those awful cloud's
oh it's nights like this that I know why lovers like you and I will never say die
cuz there's a long line of folks giving up on love
so many hearts get broke in the push and shove
I believe in you that you won't lie
cuz baby lovers like you and I will never say die
Tears of joy tears of pain
to say more than words can explain
We both felt each other's Power
with a tender touch in this hour
strong enough to hold us for life
Lovers like you and I will never say die cuz there's a long line of folks giving up on love so many hearts get broke in the push and shove I'll believe in you for the rest of my life baby lovers like you and I will never say die Oh lovers like you and I will never say die

About this poem

I wrote this after me and my wife were homeless for 8 years. It was the first night in our apartment. One week later she passed away.
