Come and pause for a while

Come and pause for a while to contemplate with me
and celebrate the wonder of Christ’s nativity.
For God came to earth that very first Christmas day
a shining light from heaven to show us the way.

Love was difficult to find in the world of men
for the Roman armies occupied Israel then.
But heavens Eternal Light had come to the earth
and angelic choirs announced the Saviours birth

A glorious crescendo in the heavens rang
when at His birth the mighty angelic host sang.
“Glory to God in the highest and peace to men”
for God’s Firstborn Son had come to earth from heaven.

The Almighty God condensed Himself to a span
thus setting in motion His great salvation plan.
He wrapped all of His glory in a human frame
and was born in a stable to bear our shame.
