Him
I saw him again
He was smiling as always, but this time he wasn’t alone. I got used to watching him, sometimes he was sitting on a bench reading or listening to music but always at the same place, at the same time, every day.
I still remember the first time I saw him, it was a cold evening of November, he was wearing a long coat because of the wind that was moving his hair from side to side, even though he was far away I saw his freckles, those random sun kissed dots were the first thing I saw, they were all over his face like stars on the sky, drawing constellations all over his cheeks. I had always liked freckles but from that instance, I loved them.
His hands, so masculine yet touched the book he was reading with a more feminine rhythm, so careless but still so caring, flipping the pages of the book, the pages of the story he was being simmered in, moving on a perfect beat, such normal body parts have to yet amaze me.
His hair, not curly but not straight, I always thought made him look like a prince, falling over him and he did not mind it at all.
His eyes, oh his eyes. I saw them just once, the only time we made eye contact but I can still recall the color of his eyes, blue mixed with a little bit of green, when I think of his eyes I recall the picture of those caves, the ones that have little lagoons inside on them. His eyes were that color, not the color of a cave but the color of the water inside of them.
While I watched him smile with her, everything came into my mind, all the little pieces that made me fall in love with him. His freckles, his hand, his hair and his eyes, and I know it is silly and maybe nuts that I fell in love with someone I had never even talked to, but I could just recall who he was from his actions, the books he read and how he treated the people around him.
So while I looked at him, laughing, showing his teeth in the most pure smile filled with happiness, the idea of finally talking to him shattered deep inside me, all the confidence I had picked up on my way there left my body at one. Because he had someone else.
He had her….
