Coward

Jennifer Bell 1985 (United States)

I feel it. The weight getting heavier and the numbness sinking in. I hate this feeling. Hating my self in my own skin. My brain used to be my solace. A place to hide until my demons slept. Now it's like my prison. Trapped with all my promises unkept. I know I don't belong here. This place has never felt like home. Surrounded by people, I've always felt alone. I dream of drowning in the sea, or sinking in the ground. I dream of disappearing, never to be found. It may seem like a nightmare. For me, it feels like release. I wish I wasn't such a coward, I don't deserve the peace.
