Crescent Moon

I'd weep a thousand tears,

stare blindly into the waning light
of a thousand fiery sunsets.

full-hand grip a million stars,
then catapult them,

eyes closed, as they'd scatter,
shrapnel-style,

piercing wispy clouds above,
freely into the night sky,

carelessly navigating the dark

wherever they'd land - I'd let them.

- just to see you smile.

let's both save our tears
for another day,

or night.
for tonight, I'll smile.

gazing up at the iridescent
moon's aura, and think of you.

grinning ear-to-ear,
knowing you're somewhere out there,

smiling stupidly back,
like a love-drunk fool,

at the same arced,
poignant,

crescent moon.

About this poem

This poem is about falling in love and staring up at the same moon, knowing you'll both always be connected, no matter where you are in the world - all you have to do is look up.
