weightless

A dark sky looms
overhead

I feel it approaching
at an ever-quickening pace

My bones ache
but not of age

I feel feeble and
drowned

In a sea
of smog

It is all my doing
but I had no control

My mind screams
a thousand insults

And I shudder at the thought
of being seen

I feel hate
and I let it consume me

Hate
but not for
women
men
gays
straights
blacks
asians
whites
jews
mothers
fathers
brothers
sisters
best friends
worst enemies
saints
sinners
ceos
interns
young couples on a bright sunday evening
old ones sharing a moment on the porch
those swallowed by their own success
and those in the pit of poverty
but for me

helpless
worthless
loveless
jobless
hopeless
passionless
hobbyless
friendless
weightless
but so heavy.

About this poem

The first poem I’ve written. It’s about my experience with Anorexia Nervosa. May be triggering to some. I hope you enjoy, I put a lot of myself into it. Feedback is more than gladly accepted and asked for.
