Addiction

Addiction
By Jerod Williams Sr.
2021

Starting on a day filled with sunshine not gloom
That familiar reminder starts small then boom
You reach for your vice
Get that dopamine hit not once but twice
Before you have even had your morning cup of Joe

Dopamine the ninja in the war against opioids
Dopamine the pimp passing crack like asteroids
Dopamine the prosecutor, judge & jury of peers
Dopamine the reason behind all our tears
Dopamine are you a slave or not
Dopamine I think you already forgot.

Now for many of you the vice is Drugs,
For many of you it could be Sex without love
Some it will be Porn,
For others if will be smoking a tree without thorns.
Some it will be a controller connected to a game
And for some Masturbation the beast you try to tame.

Dopamine the ninja in the war against opioids
Dopamine the pimp passing crack like asteroids
Dopamine the prosecutor, judge & jury of peers
Dopamine the reason behind all our tears
Dopamine are you a slave or not
Dopamine I think you already forgot.

But unlike your first experience your left chasing a dream
For a few who read this know what I mean
Pike’s peak doesn’t seem so high the second time
Your Ego already playing tricks on your mind.
Dopamine the motivation behind the action
But what you don’t realize unless the experience is new
Your residual results will be only a fraction.

Dopamine the ninja in the war against opioids
Dopamine the pimp passing crack like asteroids
Dopamine the prosecutor, judge & jury of peers
Dopamine the reason behind all our tears
Dopamine are you a slave or not
Dopamine I think you already forgot.

As for the dead thinkers….
You can never divide pieces from a whole and expect to return to whole.
As I digress not knowing the purpose of one’s actions
Leaves you a slave to your mind
Which will always leave you too far behind

Dopamine the ninja in the war against opioids
Dopamine the pimp passing crack like asteroids
Dopamine the prosecutor, judge & jury of peers
Dopamine the reason behind all our tears
Dopamine are you a slave or not
Dopamine I think you already forgot.
