Love Unique

In my hands
I hold your heart.
In them you place your trust.
Your hope.
Your love.
I cherish the ecstasy of communication.
The tangle of rooting love.
The caress of trust.
My hands are my heart
Experiencing an expression of love
So unique.
Bordering the surreal.
Testing our strengths.
Opening our minds.
Rooting deeper.
Meshing our emotions.
Bonding the dream into reality!

About this poem

My soul mate and partner in life had a disability. She died in 2019. This was the second poem I wrote for her and recited it in her eulogy. Like a lot of my poetry I created a piece of art to go with it. Sketched hands cupped to form a heart. The lines of the hands become the roots of a pastel Iris growing from them. ( I like to loosely quote Robert Frost that poetry without rhyme is like tennis without a net. But something can be said for just letting it go without I've learned. )
