the moon.

bluesunsets. 2004 (Fort Beaufort)

you were the moon.
my moon.
the only thing i ever saw, the only thing i ever loved.
you loved me back, not always.
with every phase, with every shift
came a different energy.
at times, you were not present.
at times, you were.
at times, you stuck around even when there was light.
you loved me only when you were full.
every night, people saw you, your worth and beauty.
they saw me, too
but failed to acknowledge my worth, my beauty
because you were the first one to fail to acknowledge my worth, my beauty.
i was the star next to the moon, always there
but never acknowledged.
