Shattered Spirit

He walked the halls like he owned them. His smile lit up every place he went. He loved, he hated, he worried, and he cared. Every place I have seen him, I just stared. That darkness, that empty feeling, that void in my heart. I couldn't believe we drifted apart. I knew from the start, he was the one. But it's too late. It's hard to breathe, hard to sleep, hard to live, love so deep. As the time and the days pass, I grow more and more fragile, like shattered glass. That glass represents my spirit and my heart. I know now we will never be like we once were. I know our time has passed as my shattered spirit fades away. Hidden beyond the shadows of darkness, a corner so black, it hides me from feeling as I look up at the dark ceiling. Alone and empty. Sad and hurt. My shattered spirit lives on without a care in the world. Without a shoulder to cry on. Without the love I once knew.
