Be First
Taylor Montgomery 2005 (Atlanta)
Why?
Why do you do this all the time?
Why do you put your happiness aside and let them shine so bright?
Why can’t you stop treating yourself like this?
Why was this the person you were molded to be?
That considerate soul.
Kind and Nice
Too nice
Yeah, that's a thing.
You can be too nice.
And you tend to do it all the time.
You don’t say No to people.
You never do.
You’re always offering things
Saying “Sure!”
Being polite
Thinking of things you can get them
But why?
Do you even know if they think of you that way?
Do they look for gifts to give to you?
Do they watch what they say before they say it, to ensure that your feelings don’t get hurt?
No.
No they don’t.
They do none of these things.
Is that because they don’t love you?
Not necessarily.
But that could be the case
They just haven’t put you before themselves.
And that's not a bad thing.
That's something you should do too.
You should put yourself before others
Put your happiness before other people’s happiness.
Why?
Cause why not?
Why wouldn’t you want to be happy?
Genuinely happy.
Not the “I'm fine” and in reality you're dying inside.
Be okay.
Learn to be okay
Learn to be happy
To do things that make you happy
Be around people that make you happy.
Life should just be a good experience
It should be filled with smiles everyday, instead of regret
Instead of beating yourself up for putting that person before you
Belittling your own feelings.
You need to do things for you and only you.
You know why?
Because your happiness should always come first
Not sometimes.
Not every other day.
All of the time.
