Ephemeral

Noah Lakey 2004 (Texas)

Suffering
No matter who you are it happens
Life is going to hurt you and there is nothing you can do
Nothing
Suffering is ephemeral however
Much like the waves of the ocean is comes and goes,
Never staying for too long

Happiness
The other side of the same coin
Life is enjoyable, you may even feel cheerfulness
Smile
Happiness is ephemeral however
With every up, there must be a down,
We can’t defy gravity

All emotions,
Thoughts,
People,
Lives,
Are
Ephemeral.

About this poem

This poem was written after a depressive episode. I needed a way to vent and writing came easily. This is about how all things in life come and go.
