Crossing the Line
Stealthy/stealthy on padded feet
she begins her steep descent
lured by Nature's basic instinct
and a predator's deadly intent.
Below--the valley is tranquil
serenity reigns supreme
while there guardian dozes; sheep graze
in this peaceful, pastoral scene.
Downwind, amidst taller grass ---she crouches;
silent stalker inching her way
then, leaping from her hiding spot
to pounce upon her prey.
Echo's resounding on the valley floor
awaken the shepherd from his sleep
the pastoral scent is shattered
with the bleat of frightened sheep.
Dragging her kill up the mountainside
she pauses a moment ---to rest
looks back where food is abundant
that will ease her hunger quest.
But her fate has been sealed
by this deadly deed today
she no longer is the hunter
--==she has now.become.....the prey.

About this poem
This just came out at one sitting. I don't have any idea where most of these poems come from. Just suddenly a vision in my head and I grabbed a pen and paper & many of my poems came out in one sitting---some revised-but majority not! Sometimes I just witness a scene or family poems and when I put pen to paper my pen flows. Don't know where some come from out of nowhere..
