My Grandfather, My Angel

I wasn't ready for you to go
Wasn't prepared for you to leave
My heart is so heavy
It's a terrible truth I don't want to believe

I know you're better now
Healthy, happy, and free
I picture you on clouds of gold
Heaven's gotta be prodigious to see

I can only imagine the excitement
The moment your eyes found his face
The father you've missed for so long now
Standing there in the same place

And your mother... how has she been?
I bet she's as lovely as you remembered
Granny and Stipe
You won the grand prize

You're an angel now
In the kingdom in the sky
I hope you soar, my sweet papal
Spread your wings and fly

One day God will bring me home
You can show me everything
All the beauty of that paradise
We can watch the angels' choir sing
