MY MASK I WEAR

JaQuiondia Banks 1990 (MILWAUKEE, WI)

My Mask I Wear
The sun is shining the sun is bright
I pretend everything is alright
Do not be fooled by what is shown
If you knew my story, your mind would be blown
And this makes me feel alone
But I rather smile than put on a frown
Then show the pain that keeps me down
My surface may seem smooth, but it is the mask that I wear
Beneath my mask there is a lot of ware and tare
A lot of confusion, pain, and fear
It will not keep me down, I promise you, I swear
My situation is only temporarily
I do not want sympathy, just understanding
I know my suffering and pain I feel is momentarily
But my happy ending is going to be outstanding
So, when you see me smile rather than frown
Do not be fooled by what is shown
I promise you it will not keep me down
