Caged In
Jennifer Bapp 1982 (United States)
Closed within walls no one can break
Lost in a darkness no light can over take
The sky is covered by a deepening gloom
Where sits I, waiting to hear my doom
I once breathed air so fresh and clean
And felt the sun's warm beam
But now that life's just a fading dream
Where sits I, robbed in my solitude
Silent I stood in fields of gold
Yet while surrounded by joy my heart was cold
The reasons why were beyond yonder shore
Where sat I, in the days so long before
And as I look back from where I have come
And look at everything I have done
I long for the freedom I once held
Where sits I, alone cause I failed
Chances I took and chances I lost
When I was going and unsure of the cost
My only regret is that I live in fear
Where sits I, lonely without you here
