Snowden
Matthew Pears 1991 (-)
Deceit surrounds me as the fields pass,
a minor gradient to this early grass.
No wind, no snow, no rain or hail,
lies in my head confirm I cant fail.
But wait, what's this? I'm out of breath?
Its getting steeper, do i climb to death?
Three hours now and time had stopped,
as I push through the clouds where bird have flocked.
But wait, what's this? Do my eyes miss more?
Or does the path stretch back to shore?
A smile but quickly disbelief,
sorrow, regret, anger, and grief.
Ten minutes extra- I have failed my goal,
I have to be stronger- to run not crawl.
As I walk back down from heavens reach,
and contemplate while eating my Peach,
I think of how I can improve my stride,
to conquer this mountain and win my pride.
