Your Rebellious Royal Highness
Call me rebellious, I don’t care,
I think we can agree your region has been far from fair.
I’m done with nobility and selflessness,
I’m done being helpless, get ready for some recklessness.
Your palace is brutal and relentless,
Better to be a snarky rebel than keep up with this pretence.
Hear my pearls clatter and scatter on the floor,
You’ll find torn gown pieces when you open my door.
You’ll regret calling this princess petty and insignificant,
Bring out your shades because I’m going to be bright and magnificent.
I’ll be the colossal wave that knocks you down,
I’ll watch your undoing and annihilation wearing my tainted and bloody crown.
You wanted me to be the princess of submissiveness,
Soon you’ll bow down to me, your 'wicked' royal highness.
I’ll start the flare to your downfall,
Watch the colourful rebellion make you feel unimportant and small.
You’ve reigned for far too long,
Now hear your army sing against you unperturbed and strong.
When you see me leading all the rebellion and chaos,
I’m sure you’ll be able to smell the blood on the mosaic.
Your cruelty added fuel to the flame,
You started this game now watch me bring you to utter shame.
We’ll win the war because you’ll lose,
Because without your army to hide behind, you’re just an incompetent fool.
When the trumpets blast all over the country,
Being the coward you are, you’ll try to flee,
Never striking you that we’ll be ready to capture you.
When you are being taken prisoner, you’ll hear the celebratory musical renew.
When you’ll be taken to execution, you’ll see on the throne in my regal glory.
You’ll remember this letter and how I wrote it with pride and boldness,
Yours truly,
Your rebellious royal highness
About this poem
This narrative poem is inspired by YA dystopian novels, in which a princess rebels against her restraining and cruel royal family and sparks the flame to a country-wide revolution. A dedication to every person, with or without a crown, who rebels against toxic people and a symbol to not being confined in unhealthy environments and raising your voice.
