The Courtroom

The accused stood before the court
He had his head bowed in guilt
The plaintiff ploudly stated the case
He held all the evidence in his briefcase
The accused was as guilty as charged
The court was heavily with indignation charged.

The devil was the judge so solemn
His Glee could be composed in a hymn
His gavel danced in the hands so eager
His judgement depended on a trigger
Was the accused guilty?
His teeth was in the mouth so gritty

Suddenly in entered the attorney
He looked so composed to be a phoney
"Release the accused" he said with finalty
"All his debts I paid with reality
My death on the cross was not a gimmick
Am Jesus whose blood saved the accused and the sick."

The mouth of the judge drooped
The gavel on the ground dropped
"Not guilty," mumbled the accuser
The judge echoed the words of the accuser
"Free at last," shouted the accused
And he ran from the court amused
