WAR
Pragya Prakash 2000 (Bihar)
Allegiance sworn,
swords drawn,
he looked me in my eyes.
I think he could feel my soul,
and I felt his.
He a wretched soul
He owed this blood
He owed us
So vile yet so reminiscent,
his ugliness was truly magnificent,
in the midst of the scandalous war,
two beings at the death's door.
Time stood still,
the wounds still hurt,
but the torment was mutual
The almost comical, malevolent ritual.
We fought
We lost
We still were there,
as if we would never disappear.
I could feel myself moving,
nowhere but towards him accusing, refusing
He told me we'd go to the deepest oceans,
drown our sinful sorrows
What is left in Satan's tomorrows
Our hearts sank into hell,
yet the souls made their way to heaven.
An eternal tryst
A boundless, limitless heist.
